Job Vacancy – Assistant Accountant

Lake Taupō Forest Trust is an Ahu Whenua Māori Land Trust based in Tūrangi.  The Trust administers the interests of more than 13,500 landowners and over 33,000 hectares of land adjoining Lake Taupō.  This is a medium sized, progressive business, with an increasing responsibility for exotic forest development.

We are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant with at least 3 years’ experience providing financial and payroll support in a small to medium sized organization.  Key accountabilities for the role include:

  • Supporting the finance team.
  • Delivering financial administration activities, including accounts processing, reporting, budgeting, analysis, and reporting
  • Supporting the People and Payroll administrator to administer payroll processes.
  • Supporting the Trust Accountant to ensure appropriate financial reporting systems, processes and policies are in place.

To be successful in this role you will need to have a sound knowledge and understanding of financial systems and procedures.  You will also have demonstrated competencies in making sound judgement, planning and decision making.  If you are a qualified accountant or studying towards an accounting qualification, this would be an advantage.  Familiarity with Ahu Whenua Trusts, Trust orders and Vesting Orders would also be an advantage.

This is a fulltime position, based in Tūrangi.  A job profile and person specification are available on request.

Pest Control Operation

We are very aware that introduced pests are doing damage to our taio, particularly possums, stoats and rats. We need to keep on top of this, by making sure that adequate pest control is taking place.
